Welcome to the IPVE Website

The 10th International Plant Virus Epidemiology (IPVE) symposium, themed Controlling Epidemics of Emerging and Established Plant Virus Diseases - The Way Forward, will be held from 15 - 19 October 2007, at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (IPVE), situated in Hyderabad, India.

This symposium is held under auspices of the International Plant Virus Epidemiology Committee (IPVE) of the International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP). The ISPP was founded in 1968 in the United Kingdom, for worldwide development of plant pathology. The ISPP is a member of the International Union of Biological Sciences (IUBS), the International Union of Microbiological Sciences (IUMS), in liaison with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The ISPP sponsors International Congress of Plant Pathology, and the International Meetings of its Subject Committees.

To date the IPVE Committee has conducted nine international symposia in different parts of the world.

  • Lima, Peru, 4 - 7 April 2005
  • Ascherleben, Germany, 12 - 17 May 2002

Symposium will contain oral and poster presentations, and keynote lectures delivered by leaders in their respective fields pertaining to the 10th IPVE theme, mainly on:

• Characterization of new and evolving viruses
• Factors influencing emergence of new and resurgence of established virus diseases
• Evolution of viruses and virus-vector co-evolution
• Advances in virus disease diagnosis and control
• Other aspects of the ecology and epidemiology of viruses and vectors; and relevant issues

Abstracts of papers presented in the symposium will be published by IPVE.

The symposium will be organized in the best traditions of previous IPVE symposia and the diverse scientific programme will generate solutions to plant viral disease problems in all continents and create significant impact on developmental issues benefiting people worldwide. We invite you to take part in the symposium and present your latest research results.
